This Privacy Policy describes how Tasmee ("the app," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when it is used by Quran memorization centers, their staff, and the guardians of their students.
Who Uses This App
Tasmee is used by Quran memorization (Hifz) centers to run their programs. Accounts are created only by the center, never by self sign-up:
- Teachers and directors record and review students' memorization.
- Guardians receive a read-only account from the center to follow their own children's progress.
- Platform administrators set up and manage the centers.
Students do not have accounts and do not log in to the app.
Information We Collect
Account information (teachers, directors, guardians, administrators):
- Name
- Login credentials (username and password; passwords are stored securely and never in plain text)
- Email address, where the center or administrator provides one
- Role and organization assignment
Center information: the center's name, a contact person, phone number, email address and city, and its subscription and payment records, kept by the platform administrators.
Student information, entered and managed by staff:
- Name
- Enrollment status, branch, and assigned teacher
- Hifz memorization records (sessions, progress, corrections)
- Daily attendance (present, absent, late or excused, with an optional note)
- Guardian name and contact information, where applicable
Staff attendance: the time each teacher checks in at the center each day.
Messages and notifications: messages sent in the app by the platform, directors and teachers (for example a teacher's note to a child's guardians), and automatic notifications about lessons, attendance and summaries. To deliver phone notifications we store a notification token for your device and your app language.
We do not collect this information directly from students. It is entered by authorized center staff as part of normal program administration. Guardians can only see information about the students linked to their own account.
Information stored on your device: your sign-in session (kept in the device's secure storage), your language choice, memorization records saved while offline until they are sent, and Quran pages downloaded for offline reading. Offline records are deleted from the device when you sign out.
The app does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photos, and does not show advertising.
How We Use Information
Information collected is used solely to:
- Operate and maintain Hifz program records
- Generate progress reports and roster overviews for teachers and directors
- Show guardians their own children's progress and attendance
- Send in-app and phone notifications about lessons, attendance, summaries and messages from the center
- Authenticate access to the app and keep accounts secure
- Send account emails (sign-in details for new accounts, new passwords, notices that support signed in) and billing emails (payment receipts and subscription renewal reminders) to the addresses provided
At a center's request, platform support may sign in to a director account using a one-time code, to help with a problem. Such sessions last at most one hour, are recorded in the center's activity log, and the director is notified by email.
Data Storage and Security
All data, including the Quran text and fonts the app downloads, is served from servers we operate and control. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
Emails are delivered through our email delivery provider (Resend), which receives only the recipient's address and the message, solely to deliver it.
Phone notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which receives your device's notification token and the notification's title and text, solely to deliver it. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings; the notifications stay available inside the app.
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect stored data, including encrypted network connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers.
Data Retention
Information is retained for as long as necessary to support ongoing program administration. Center administrators can deactivate accounts at any time. When a center leaves the platform, its data is deleted on request. Database backups are kept for 14 days and then deleted.
Deleting Your Account and Data
You can ask for your Tasmee account, and the data linked to it, to be deleted at any time:
- Email support@osam.dev with the subject "Delete my Tasmee account" from the email address on your account, or ask your center's director to send the request.
- Include your center code, your username and your role (director, teacher or guardian).
- We confirm the request with you or your center, then delete the account within 30 days and email you when it is done.
What is deleted: your account, sign-in details, device notification tokens and notifications. For a guardian, the link to their children is removed. A child's memorization and attendance records belong to the center's educational records; a guardian can ask for them to be deleted through the center or by email, and the center deletes the student's records together with the student. Records may remain in backups for up to 14 days before they are removed.
Children's Information
Tasmee is not directed at children, and children do not have accounts. The app contains information about minors (students enrolled in Hifz programs), entered and managed by authorized adult staff for educational record-keeping, and visible only to that center's staff and to the student's own guardians.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of information related to you or your child. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
